Why should I have a damper in my range hood vent?
What should I pay attention to when buying a recirculating range hood?
I am living in a town house. The board of directors did not approve for drilling a hole for the exhaust vent of the range hood. I have to buy a recirculating range hood to replace the existing one. There are many types & brands on the market. What should I pay attention to? I want to buy a durable one. It should be able to clear the grease & odor from cooking. I sometimes do wok cooking & frying. I understand the filter has to be replaced periodically. Of course, the less maintenance the better. Noise is also my concern. It is difficult to choose amongst the various brands. Some advise on that is highly appreciated.
How do you install a ventless range hood on the wall?
I bought this because there is no way to vent outside but I'm not sure how to install it I won't be picking it up for a week and don't have installation instructions obviously until I actually buy it . It will go on the wall over the electric range in our kitchen. Now that I've ordered it I realize I do not know anything about installing ie, where is the power source? does it just plug in behind the range along with the range itself, or what? Here's what I'm buying Kenmore White 30" Range Hood 5334Thanks for any advice. Expert handy person types or professionals please answer. Not so handy people like me, please don't offer any advice if you wouldn't mind no offense but I need an expert's help with this. Thank you These are both great answers I guess I need to tell you 1. we wanted to swap locations for the fridge and the elec. stove. Is this possible, or do they each have different kinds of power sources? Is it okay to swap locations for these two appliances?2. There is no cabinet above the stove tiny, primitive kitchen obviously since it doesn't even have a hood . Do they make any kind of venting system that can just be plugged in without a lot of rigermarole? I don't know what to do. Every time a frying pan starts smoking it sets off the smoke alarm which is part of our security system and in three minutes the fire trucks are outside Thank you in advance for your help
The light in my range hood is not working, but the bulbs haven't blown?
My partner was switching the range hood light on, so that the light would be on when the fan was off, when the light bulb appeared to blow, making a crackling sound. But when I undid the light cover there were two bulbs and both looked like they hadn't blown. If the bulbs haven't blown, what else could be the problem? Is this common? The brand is Omega model number OA416W X60.
Cabinets over my stove, what kind of range hood do I need?
Thank you
Replacing oven range hood with built in microwave?
My wife and I recently bought a built in microwave to go over our stove. We currently have a range hood. The house is 61 yrs old and the range hood is directly hooked into wires coming through the wall as it's electrical source. The built in has an actual plug. What is the best way to install this? Do we need to install a socket behind the built in? Do we need an electrician? Or can I use the current wires to install a plug? if so should I surface mount a box and receptacle above and fish wires or can I install receptacle and box where wires are the plug in and mount? Any help will be appreciated. Thank You.
Does any condo prohibit owner to install motorized range hood?
I bought a condo on the 3rd floor the toppest recently and am now doing renovation for the kitchen. I've already installed a motorized range hood by inserting the pipe into the vent right over the range. Unfortunately the board called me and said to install a motorized range hood is not allowed, because 1 other people living in this complex do not have motorized range hood 2 the vent is motorized, so a motorized range hood is likely to interfere the efficiency of the motorized ventoh my goddess, I'm gonna use the hood at most 20min everyday, how can that interfere a more powerful vent function working all the day? And the board don't know either if it's true as they said unless consulting an engineer.Anybody has suggestions or has experienced a similar situation? Thank you
I'm looking for a good, or at least good enough, unvented range hood.?
Cleaning Kitchen Range Hood Filter for the first time?
Hello all, I am a college student living at my parents' place by myself. Today I decided to clean the kitchen as I do once in a month or so. But for the first time in years, I've decided to remove the range hood filter to clean. I started cooking more frequently starting last year It is a very typical over the range hood with a steel mesh filter. And as you may imagine, the two filters were DIRTY. Totally black on the other side. The black grease forms a thick layer of cloth that I can simply rip off, and underneath I see the nice and clean steel mesh. My question is can I just rip the whole thing off or am I actually ripping into part of the filter? Do these filters have a soft cloth like thing attached to them? I ripped a small corner and the steel mesh underneath seems to have rather large holes openings, which got me worried whether that alone can do the filtering job.
Removing Ranged hood?
I am installing an over the range microwave and was having a little difficulty with what to do with my old range hood. I took the hood down and noticed that it connected to a single wire. My new microwave has a regular 3 pronged connection and was wondering what I should do with the old wire. Can I disconnect the wire from the hood, cap the ends and place it back in the wall and then just plug the microwave into a nearby socket? Can I convert that wire into a plug for the microwave? any help would be appreciated.
California Range Hood Codes?
I am in to process of looking for an apartment to rent and I just viewed one today that I really like. Anyway, there is no range hood over the stove and I didn't know if it is required by law to have one. It looks like there was one at some point in time and the hole in the wall is just covered up, but there is still a fan in the wall that is visible from the outside. There is no cabinetry or anything above the stove so I don't know if that makes it 'legal' to not have a hood. This is in the state of California, just to be clear. Thanks.I just wanted to add that there is a window about 3 feet away from the range, and there is also a ceiling fan in the kitchen as well.
