Has anyone used Restor-A-Finish on their oak kitchen cabinets?
Hello I've lived in this 30 year old townhouse for 5 years. My kitchen has medium oak cabinets and I don't like them though they're in good condition. So far I've bought new stainless steel fridge, range hood and stove and changed the bronze handles to brushed nickel handles. Also I put in new Italian tile countertop & backsplash last year. Yes it already looks a lot better. However I really want to spruce up my busy medium oak cabinets a little...I've always wanted to paint or re stain the cabinets into a darker shade, like dark walnut or espresso. But my husband won't let me do it since he thinks it's too much work, and the cabinets are still in good condition well he let me change the countertop cuz the original tiles were really ugly and a few were broken So yeah... I just came across this product called " Restor a finish" . It seems to be easy and cheap enough that I may be able to do it myself. But I wonder if anyone has any experience in using this on their kitchen cabinets? If so, I wonder if I can use a darker shade? I looked at their website and I'd say the closest match that I can use is dark oak since the finish is about the same but it looks a little darker than my cabinets on my monitor. Also my cabinets' color look kinda between the " walnut mahogany" on their website too but w o the same finish. However I wonder if I can use a darker shade, like the dark walnut or Ebony Brown. I just hope that my cabinets can be a little bit darkerer. I have been looking for pictures online, but I couldn't really find anyone using the dark finish. so I hope I can find someone with experience with this. Thanks a lot

How to achieve a merlot cherry finish on kitchen cabinets. The cabinets are new and unfinished. I like the look of the rich merlot cherry color but cannot find a stain exactly like I want. I do see photos of cabinets already made in this color. I assume it must be a 2 step process to achieve. Any information would be helpful. Thank you

What color should I paint my kitchen cabinets and walls?
We're moving into a new house, and the kitchen cabinets were painted bright royal blue by the former tenant and left that way. They were going for a unique, artsy sort of look. That's my style, too, so at first I liked them it's actually one of the things that first attracted me to the house , but every time I see them, I like the color less and less. I'm not opposed to blue cabinets, but this particular royal blue is a bit ugly and hard on the eyes. We were told we're free to repaint, so I'm wondering what I should do. I've been thinking painting the cabinets white might be the best idea, but I don't want them to be too boring and ordinary. We would like our house to be young and hip, and cute and colorful. So, what do you think we should do? We can paint both the cabinets and the walls. I'm thinking maybe white cabinets, and yellow or gold kitchen walls...but maybe light blue walls? I'm not sure. What do you think? I'm open to any color and painting suggestions.Thanks

And the appliances are black.My kitchen cabinet color is currently green with black made to look like wood it was a modern look in the 70s .What I want The wood pantry, tile and counter and appliances will stay as they are. I will to add some sort of red tiles as backs plash between the counter and cabinets like here houzz.com photos 34865 christian rice architects inc contemporary kitchen san diego , though it will not be this bold red . Best Way To Refinish MDF Kitchen Cabinets?
Hello,My wife and I bought our house almost 3 years ago and the house is only 6 years old so we are ahead of the curve, however previous owners cut a lot of corners with moudlings and cabinets using alot or MDF and as I am replacing the moulding one room at a time I am not too savy at kitchen cabinets. So my questions is this they are in pretty rough shape and need a deep cleaning as well as repainted replace harware hinges, knobs etc . There are a couple where the tracks have come off of some drawers where in that case I will just make it a false drawer but I am looking for any suggestions...this project is due to my wife wanting to redo the kitchen and I have tried to tell her that it is a 35 40k project with installation and appliances and right now its just not in the cards so rather than here her complain on a daily basis I figured I would put a bandaid on the current issue. Kitchen Cabinet Water Damage?
My house flooded about 1" with clean water. We mopped up the water within hours, but the extraction company took 6 days to get out with fans and drill holes in the base. We have the newer style kitchen cabinets that are mostly particle board and modular one piece . Most contractors estimating the job are curious about if there was any water damage to the cabinets. Most say, " it seems ok, we can replace cover the board on the base" .My question is, how do I know if the kitchen cabinets need replacement? I don't see any visable peeling, swelling, color loss, breaking apart etc.. but I do see a little water stain on the base.
What type of material would I use to replace my kitchen cabinet shelves?
The kitchen cabinets in my home are perfectly fine EXCEPT the shelves inside are old, they are dirty and i don't know how it happened but they are all topsy turvey, they swoop down in the middle and need to be replaced. i am trying to figure out what I could use that is cheap and where I would get it. How much would it cost to get my kitchen cabinets refaced including glazing and a protective coat? Sanding, primed, painted, glazed and sealed. I counted 16 doors and 9 drawers. I've found prices ranging from $90 120 a door and $75 90 a drawer other forums base their prices on openings $100 130. Is $2,500 to 3,500 a safe estimation for a professional to get this done?
