I am moving to England and need to buy all new furnishings and appliances, which stores offer the best deals?
I am moving permanently to England, and need to buy basically everything needed for a home. I would like to know of stores, especially those you can view products online but aren't just web based. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My husband is English and we are moving to England so he can complete his studies. My concern is mainly that we have a 1 year old and I would like to have his crib and our beds at least for when we arrive, plus some other essentials. I've tried using ebay but the larger items are quite expensive to ship or they expect you to pick it up. If it weren't for the baby, I would be in no rush whatsoever, but I think it will help with the shock if he arrived at his new home and found his little bed and toys.

However, my appliance guy tells me there all the same, but he recommends whirpool to be the best.

Can I just flick the power strip switch, to turn off appliances, or should I turn off the appliances first?
I want to plug appliances into a power strip surge protector, so I can turn them all off with one switch, saving my energy and home energy. ...but, do I need to go around and push the off button on all the appliances, first...or can I just flick the surge protector switch? Is that safe, or would it be as potentially damaging, to the appliances, as a blackout? It's a PC monitor, 40 watt speakers, a printer and a PS3 slim...and sometimes an external hard drive.

Any tips for cleaning black appliances?
I have black appliances in my kitchen, they are so pretty but so hard to clean. The stove is especially difficult, I clean with 409, but I find that I still see greasy smudges after wiping for what seems like forever Any ideas??
Why are only small appliances available in colors?
For example Kitchen Aid. Their stand mixers, toasters, blenders, etc. are available in a wide variety of colors, but their refrigerators, dishwashers, and stoves are only available in white or stainless steel. I realize that in the past people were concerned about their appliances going out of style, but nowadays appliances only last about 10 years, so by the time they would go out of style, you would be ready to replace them anyway. I just think it would be fun to have an orange fridge I guess. LOL.Boxer I guess not, because I have no idea what you're trying to say.Boxer I guess not, because I have no idea what you're trying to say.
How can I connect 2 appliance water outlets into one drainpipe?
I want to use one drainpipe for expelling the water from a washing machine and a dish washer.Obviously I can just force the two rubber pipes into the plastic pipe which should be OK so long as the two appliances don't discharge at the same time.Short of installing another drainpipe is there another way of attaching the two pipes to the one drainpipe?Somebody suggested a spigot butI cannot find anything that looks like it may be suitable for this purpose
Appliance that can be both a humidifier and dehumidifier ?
Is there such a thing at the moment ? I hate buying seasonal appliances that are only used for a few months and become useless afterwards.
